Generation 1-4 Sketch Cards

Hey everyone! I know, it’s been pretty quiet in here. Things will pick back up soon. Right now I’m enjoying playing through toddler stage Cristal with Dorian finishing up his degree. Cute stuff… I’ll share pictures soon.

But on to the meat and potatoes of this post… I have completed the sketch cards of each one of the generations so far.

Generation One:

We were in the park as usual…

We were learning about pirates in history. That’s when I realized it. My grandmother said that her dad, my great grandfather, had been a thief. So that means he probably had a lot of money hidden. I bet it’s hidden in this park.

The next birthday was the twins…

Fern was in a depressed funk. Her children were growing up so quickly and there was still so much to accomplish.

Happy Birthday Matilda and Poe.

She grew up to be an adorable kid. She was an active and happy child, always smiling.

Poe grew up to be an attractive young man, but he suffered the same bouts of depression as his mother.

Fern was tired and guilty. She knew it was her fault that Poe was depressive.

She put up her book and continued to beat herself up. Depression ran in families. No one else in her family had ever been depressed, so it was all her fault.

Lorne came in the room and sat down on the bed.

Lorne: “What is bothering you, Potted One?”

Fern: “Nothing.”

Lorne: “Don’t lie.”

Fern: “I’m not…”

Lorne looked at her sternly.

Fern: “I’m just worried about Poe.”

Lorne: “I know, but he’s going to be okay. The therapist will be able to help.”

Fern sniffled.

Fern: “But its all my fault.”

Lorne: “Fern, stop and listen to me. It’s not your fault. Don’t blame yourself. There is nothing wrong with you or Poe. It’s just a part of who you are. You’re both perfect the way you are. I’m here for the both of you whenever you need, and I know Dorian and Matilda are here for you both too. That’s what family is for.”

Lorne pulled Fern into his lap and cuddled her as the tears slid down her cheeks.

A few weeks later…

Fern: “Let’s go to the park… we can a picnic and rally support for the upcoming primaries.”

Fern cooked her rubber chickens…

And had a water balloon with her Dad and brother.

Orion pulled out his best Clint Eastwood impersonation.

And then challenged Griffin and Lorne to a dual versus himself and Fern.

Fern wasn’t too sure about this.

Lorne was a noodle boy, so she wasn’t worried there… but Griffin was a professional athlete.

But she had nothing to worry about….

The first round. She was pissed when she got doused the second round. Orion found it hilarious.

Lorne sucked as expected.

Griffin had the throwing arm of a god.

They went over to the family’s house after and it was a lot bigger of an event now.

Dorian played chess with his Uncle. Dorian knocked over Tom’s key piece and grinned.

Dorian: “Checkmate Motherfucker.”

Tom: “I’m pretty sure your Mother doesn’t let you use that kind of language.”

Dorian: “Whoops.”

The Quartz Casa, Willow Creek…

Lorne was excited to meet Hailee. She was Micah’s first foster child.

She was a teeny little thing. Green just like Micah. Lorne’s heart was melting.

Lorne: “You’re a lucky kid. You’ll be able to grow up happy and safe here.”

Fern kissed Lorne as soon as he sat Hailee down.

Fern: “Don’t get ideas, Mister. We have a full house.”

Lorne: “Not too full. We’ll come back to the idea later.”

Micah came out of the kitchen and the three of them sat down.

Micah: “What do you think?”

Lorne: “It’s amazing and Hailee is spectacular.”

Fern: “Great work, Kitten!”

Sometime later…

It was Lorne’s birthday.

He thought it’d be a good time to get in shape.

But he sucked. Sorry.

Fern didn’t mind her husband being a stick. She made him his birthday cake as he showered after the workout.

She was pouring a cup of coffee as he approached the cake.

She hadn’t even finished pouring when he blew out the candles.

Fern: “Lorne! You could have waited!”

Lorne: “And gotten melted wax in the frosting? No.”

Fern: “There’s no way you need that much frosting, you could have spared some.”

Dorian: “Happy Birthday, Dad!”

Why does this child always look so smug?

Fern: “Happy Birthday– oh.”

Fern’s head was swimming and Lorne took her up to bed.

The family enjoyed the night anyway.

Griffin mugged for the camera.

Hailee has that sass!

Mom and Dad had to go out, so Dorian was left at home with a nanny…

Dorian: “Wuv you big kitty!”

Dorian: “Who dis?”

Terry: “I’m your nanny, Terry. I’m here to potty train you.”

Dorian: “What go in pot?”

Terry: “Poop.”

Dorian: “Eww.”

An hour later, Fern and Lorne arrived home….Fern8_072

Orion was taking a walk as his daughter and son in law arrived home.

Fern: “Keep it cool, Fern.”

Lorne patted her on the back.

Orion: “Hey Ferny, you okay?”

Fern: “Daddy! I’m glad you came by. I have to share the big news: I’m pregnant again!”

Orion was shocked and thrilled.

Dorian wandered outside upon hearing his parents voices.

He was happy to see his grandfather.

Micah was in the neighborhood and popped by.

Micah waved at Fern.

Fern: “Hey Kitten, hows the House coming?”

Micah: “Well the designer was lazy and wanted to use a predone plan from the gallery, but I convinced her to do a custom design for me.

Fern: “Premade plans aren’t bad. My house came from the gallery and it’s perfect for us.”

Micah: “Well yours came from a reputable designer. My designer was just searching for keywords on the gallery. Knowing my luck she’d have a toilet in the kitchen.”

Fern: “You’d be able to use the RR while the grill cheese cooked?”

The girls chatted as Orion sat his grandson down.

Orion: “Gotta go, Champ. I’ll come over and play soon.”

It was cold and Fern ushered in Dorian and Micah.

Fern: “You look cold. Let me warm you up.”

Fern kissed Micah’s cheek. Micah giggled.

Micah: “You are an opportunistic monster.”

Fern: “I know. But you love it. So I’m glad you came by. I have some news!”

Fern: “I’m pregnant again!”

Micah: “Wait what? Really???”

Micah: “But… not fair!”

Fern: “Huh?”

Micah: “Nothing…”

Fern: “Micah… are you jealous?”

Micah chewed her lip.

Micah: “No.”

Fern lifted Micah’s chin and stroked Micah’s cheek with her thumb.

Fern: “You’re going to make an excellent mother.”

Lorne finished his bowl of soup and moved over to the girls.

Lorne: “How’s the house coming?”

Micah moved her chin out of Fern’s hand. Her eyes were moist.

Micah: “It’s going well. Construction starts this week.”

Lorne: “That’s fantastic. It really surprised me to hear you wanted to do this.”

Micah: “Well, talking to you and meeting little Dorian got me thinking. I talked it over with my Mom and learned more about the things she did for Whole Hearts… and I want to do something good too.”

Fern: “I’m just so happy and honored that you chose to start a home for children here in Willow Creek. It’s really going to be the highlight of the Crystal Courtyard neighborhood. Thank you, Kitten.”

Lorne: “I am really thrilled about it too. We’ll be here for you, whenever you need us.”

Micah: “Thank you, Guys. That makes me feel a lot better. I’m nervous, even though it’ll be a while before I’m taking in any children.”

Micah: “I’d be happy to get some practice in watching Dorian though.”

Fern: “That’d be wonderful.”

Micah: “He’s so cute. A perfect little gentleman. I hope mine will be as great.”

Fern laughs.

Fern: “He gets it from Lorne. He’d be a hell raiser if he was taking after me.”

Micah and Lorne laugh their agreement.

Fern grins wickedly.

Fern: “I mean, if you really wanted a child with Lorne’s charms… I’m sure he could help you out.”

Micah squeaked her shock and Lorne looked at Fern with a “you’ve got to be kidding me” look on his face.

Fern started to laugh.

Fern: “I’m just joking, though he really is good at getting a girl knocked up accidentally!”

Her laughter was hysterical.

Lorne: “You’re terrible, Fern.”

Micah: “She’s a monster.”

It was getting late…

Fern: “The snow picked up again and it’s late. Want to spend the night?”

Micah: “That’s very kind of you, Ma’am.”

Fern: “You can borrow a pair of my PJ’s.”

Micah: “You wear PJ’s?”

Fern: “I own some!”
