Fern was the type of woman that took what she wanted. She was used to being the smartest and sexiest person in the room and lived off the attention and affection of those around her. Until that came crashing down all around her. After that, she was ostracized by her peers and found it hard to make meaningful relationships either romantic or platonic. Her life was an empty depressive mess and she couldn’t bring herself to trust her family or few remaining friends with her problems.

Nial Lorne grew up poor and clawed and scratched his way to the top. He was a serious no nonsense sort of guy that forsook friendships for his ambitions. Nial didn’t like to stay in a job too long. That meant getting comfortable and those that settled didn’t rise to the top, but things changed when he ended up with Fern as his supervisor. At first, he thought she was a spoiled power hungry princess that only had her job due to nepotism. He soon found out that she was every bit the shark he was and they formed a close relationship.

Their relationship might have been too close however as Fern found herself pregnant from a night with her employee… Will they be able to balance corporate life with a family or will something force them to change gears completely?
